GRiT Supports Sandi Menchi
GRiT (Girls Running in Trails) aims to raise funds for Sandi Menchi in her quest to represent the Philippines in one of the toughest ultramarathon mountain races in Europe, the UTMB – TDS. Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie or TDS is a 119km with about 7,200 metres height gain in France. Sandi is the first Filipina who has a big chance of grabbing a top spot in this prestigious world mountain race.
Sandi has the will and capacity to fly our flag on the world stage. In preparation for her big race on August 28, 2017, Sandi will need every support and help that can elevate the Filipino dream to the highest peaks. Support GRiT!
GRiT has all the elements for a weekend filled with adventure – good trails, a supportive community, good food and strong women. It brings together women who rise above all boundaries and difficulties. There is nothing more inspiring than seeing women of all levels of physical fitness running together for a single cause and crossing the finish line with grit, overcoming all obstacles. GRiT is created by and for women. It’s going to be an endorphin–filled weekend as girls will run the fierce 15k course around the manicured trails of Basekamp, San Mateo Rizal. Those who like to take the shorter course can do the sweet 6K. The boys will partake too, by doing the Sub-Sandi Challenge. And to make it more fun and enjoyable for families, the kids will have the Kiddie Uphill Miler.
It’s a fun–fuelled pre and post race celebration. It will start with race packet claiming, followed by race briefing. All GRiT registrants will receive a dry fit shirt and finishers will receive a medal. There will be a post race meal for all the registered runners and volunteers. The winners will also receive fabulous, chic prizes. The entire course provides scenic views of lush meadow, tall fruit–bearing trees, rolling hills, rice paddies, rural life, and of course, aid and spirit stations. With special support from the male members of the running teams in the community, clad with tutu skirt or wearing a lipstick.
