Cardimax Clark Ultramarathon 2017 Race Report
Hot weather, rain, and the new course section worked together to form the challenging racing conditions of the Cardimax Clark Ultramarathon 2017. A total of 262 runners toed the line of the Cardimax Clark Ultramarathon on Sep. 9 to 10, 2017. Runners spent their Friday afternoon before race day going through race kit claiming and race briefing at the Quest Hotel.
Notable event highlights were, Wilnar Iglesia, last year’s local champion emerged as the overall champion with the time of 11:17:46 despite losing his way at the first part of the race. Silamie Apolistar (Philippines) or commonly known as Seannah Swift continued her reign as the female champion with the time of 12:12:04, her third consecutive year of being the women’s champion. The podium was completed by three‐year consistent top finisher, Jade Arevalo at second, and Anthony Calixterio at third. In the women’s category, Roselle Abajo finished her third Cardimax Clark Ultra with a second place finish, while second‐timer, Irish Laurenciana finished third.
The 50k distance had a total of 140 participants, mostly were first‐timers. The male podium was topped by, Welfred Esporma, followed by Sherwin Patron at second place, and Danilo Macairap at third place. Rhina Sison, on her third Cardimax Clark Ultra 50k won the female championship. She was followed by newcomers, Zhahata Malana, and Anne Orquiza.
Cardimax Clark Ultramarathon is on its third year and this year was deemed to be the hottest of all three.
